UK holiday buyers should ensure that various holiday companies they
may deal with should provide their Association
of British Travel Agents (ABTA) and Air
Travel Organisers' Licensing (ATOL ) details as appropriate. Travellers
are reminded to ensure that they have adequate travel insurance cover,
which may be supplied by their holiday company or purchased separately,
and fully understand the terms and restrictions of such. All UK travellers
should possess and carry their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
for EU travel. Single trip or 12 month travel policies may be most appropriate
for protecting your items in transit and your health when on holiday
if you take a number of holidays each year. Standard policies are not
suitable for everyone. You should always ensure travel insurance terms
and condiitions are appropriate for your party and the holiday(s) and
activities you plan to take and engage in. Do take time to understand
the limitations of any policy, particularly in relation to delay, cancellation,
health declarations and activities including watersports, bike or animal
riding, climbing and any other pursuit where there is heightened risk.
If you are at all in doubt you should seek clarification from any insurance
provider before purchasing travel insurance to ensure you are obtaining
adequate cover.
